Submitted to the Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal, 2005:

In September of this year, the members of Faith Baptist Church began collecting items for soldiers serving in Iraq. When the students and faculty of Mathews High School learned of our operation, the principal Mrs. Whitley, inquired as to the possibility of the school assisting us with our project.

On 5 November we received approximately one hundred boxes containing items to be sent to American soldiers serving overseas. The out-pouring of generosity from the students and faculty was enormous. It was extremely encouraging to witness such a giving spirit put forth by the young men and women of MHS. We are in the process of having these items sent overseas to Americans who are in harms way.

The charity displayed by the students of Mathews is very heart warming and greatly appreciated. The members of Faith Baptist would like to publicly express our gratitude for your selfless acts and your giving hearts. May God bless each and everyone of you!
